Arita porcelain, Japan’s oldest porcelain, originated in the early 17th century in Arita, Saga Prefecture
These are pre-loved cups from 2000s that can be used as both guinomi (sake cups) and yunomi (tea cups)
Decorated with hand-painted Kikyo (bellflower) design
Kikyo have long been considered auspicious as it has a similar sound to kikkyo which means one’s destiny or fortune
In the past there was a custom of offering a single bellflower to Buddha and that he would then predict the offerer’s fortune
