Souvenir Kokeshi from Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture
Vintage from 1950s~1970s
This shape of kokeshi is called Chatsubo, meaning a traditional tea jar or urn
These were bought as souvenirs from Nikko, an area famous for the UNESCO World Heritage Toshogu Shrine (mausoleum of first Edo Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu) and its stunning natural surroundings
The kokeshi depict two iconic landmarks in Nikko: Kegon Falls (doll with green fabric) and Shinkyo Bridge (doll with red fabric)

CONDITION - EXCELLENT
Although the box and wrapping tissue shows signs of age, the kokeshi have been immaculately stored and most likely never displayed. Zero patina from sun. Overall excellent condition.
Vintage, antique and pre-loved items may show some signs of aging or wear. Please inspect the photos carefully before making your purchase.

CARING FOR YOUR KOKESHI
To dust, wipe gently with a dry soft cloth
Avoid touching kokeshi with wet hands as the dye/paint may run
Recommended to keep kokeshi away from direct sunlight to avoid wood from darkening and dye/paint fading
