Akazu Ware Lidded Candy Dish
Oribe Glaze Kashiki (Candy Dish) with Lid
Vintage kashiki (candy dish or confectionery bowl) from Rokubei-gama in Aichi Prefecture
One of the signature techniques of this kiln is using Oribe green glaze
This piece is decorated with both Oribe and iron glazes.
It has intentional crazing or crackle glaze called "kannyu", on both the dish and lid
Akazu Ware is produced in the Akazu area, located in the eastern part of the city of Seto, Aichi Prefecture.
This craft is a type of Seto ware, one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns
It has a very long history, initially developed from the base of Mt Sanage in Seto during the Kofun period (300-538)
It is characterized by the use of 12 diverse decorative techniques, as well as seven traditional glazes, including Oribe
Marked “Rokubei” (kiln) on base
A similar design kashiki is still produced by Rokubei-gama today

CONDITION - VERY GOOD
Some discoloration of inside lip of lid and foot of dish. Lines inside lid are part of the crackle glaze technique and not a fault. Overall very good condition.
