Artisan-made Houhin (Teapot) and Single Yunomi (Teacup) Set

  • An extremely well-crafted studio teapot and teacup pairing

  • Houhin is a teapot without a handle and used typically with loose-leaf teas

  • Senchado or The Way of Sencha (loose-leaf green tea, rather than powdered matcha tea) is deeply connected to mindfulness

  • The preparation of tea is often considered a form of Zen meditation but in motion and the practice can lead to a state of tranquility, harmony and presence

  • This houhin has the word “Zen” marked under its spout, making it the perfect set for this purpose, a meditative tool for a moment of peace

  • The clear overglaze uses a deliberate crazing or crackle pattern technique called kannyu, an intentional part of the design

CONDITION – EXCELLENT

Small black marks on both houhin and yunomi occurred at time of firing and are not faults. A scratch-like mark on houhin lid was also from time of production. Overall excellent condition.
