Ceramic Lidded Container with Plum Blossom Design

  • A vintage Kiyomizu Ware/Kyoto Ware piece from 1980s

  • The gold plum blossom design is hand-painted over vermillion red

  • From Kiyomizu Ware Specialist Store Ginza Tosai, and marked Otowa (kiln name) on base

  • Originally used for kaiseki cuisine but can also be used as a trinket box

  • Plum blossom are one of the first flowers that bloom early in the year during winter

  • Due to their strong resilience and vitality they are considered auspicious, warding off illnesses and brings longevity

CONDITION - GOOD

Slight wear on lid. Overall good condition. Please be aware the lid does not have a secure grip and is simply placed on top of the base so that it is easily removed during the meal.
