A vintage Kiyomizu Ware/Kyoto Ware piece from 1980s
The gold plum blossom design is hand-painted over vermillion red
From Kiyomizu Ware Specialist Store “Ginza Tosai”, and marked “Otowa” (kiln name) on base
Originally used for kaiseki cuisine but can also be used as a trinket box
Plum blossom are one of the first flowers that bloom early in the year during winter
Due to their strong resilience and vitality they are considered auspicious, warding off illnesses and brings longevity
