Kokeshi titled "Yoshun", meaning “Springtime”

  • Vintage Sousaku “Creative” style Kokeshi from the late Showa Period (1970-80s)

  • Crafted by Miyashita Hajime (1940- ), an artisan from Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture

  • He began producing Sousaku kokeshi dolls in 1959 and went on to win multiple awards for his designs, including the Prime Minister’s Award

  • Miyashita retired in 2006 after his studio was sadly destroyed by fire

  • This kokeshi is decorated with cherry blossom design to signify spring

  • Artisan stamp on base
