Both cats have been produced from the same mold, though not originally sold as a pair
The black cat is made of a heavier clay than the white
Traditionally, cats were considered good luck as they exterminated mice
Towards the end of the Edo Period, pottery or wood-carved cats became good luck charms for prosperity in business
Both cats have their left paws raised symbolizing calling in luck with people
