Mino Ware Teapot Set (5 Cups)
Delicate Ceramic Teapot Set with Sazanka (Camellia) Design
Mino ware dates back to the 7th century, originating in what was then Mino Province, now part of Gifu Prefecture
Known for traditional styles like Shino, Oribe, Kiseto, and Kuroseto, Mino ware has also adapted to modern lifestyles and design preferences, producing a wide variety of tableware
This teapot set is from Kozan Gama, a kiln owned by ceramic company Maebata Touki in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, operating since 1946
Decorated with purple and green Sazanka flowers on both sides of the teapot and on each of the tea cups
Sazanka is a type of Japanese Camellia (Camellia sasanqua), found mainly in western and southern Japan, with wild species blooming from October to December
As they bloom when few other flowers do, they have long been used in gardening and for bonsai
Symbolically, Sazanka represents devotion, ideal love and overcoming difficulties, reflecting their ability to bloom despite the cold of winter
Marked Kozan Gama on base of teapot and cups
