Nerikomi Teacups (Set of 5)
Set of Nerikomi Tokoname Ware Yunomi
Tokoname ware from Aichi Prefecture is made using clay that contains a high amount of iron, giving it its distinctive reddish-orange colour
In 2017, Tokoname ware was officially recognised as one of Japan’s six ancient kilns, along with Seto ware, Echizen ware, Tamba Tachikui ware, Bizen ware, and Shigaraki ware
Nerikomi is a traditional marbling technique that involves layering and kneading together different coloured clays
These yunomi (teacups) feature a beautiful blend of olive green, dark chocolate brown, and reddish-orange swirls
While the exterior of each yunomi is unglazed, the interior has been finished with a white glaze to prevent absorption of tea and make cleaning easier
