¥22,580

Old Imari Lidded Bowls with Moriage Chrysanthemum Details

  • From early Meiji Period (1868~1880s)

  • Made in Hizen, a province which was part of Saga and Nagasaki Prefectures which included Arita and Imari

  • Hizen, Arita and Ko-Imari (Old Imari) are often used interchangeably for ceramics from this region, produced during the Edo and Meiji Periods

  • Beautifully decorated bowls using “moriage” technique, where enamel is layered to create a raised, three-dimensional effect

  • The “Kinrande” technique is also used, with gold decorations applied to the overglazed porcelain surface

SIZE (Approx.)
DIAMETER 12.3CM (4.8") X HEIGHT 9.5CM (3.7")

WEIGHT (without packaging)
931 Grams (total for pair)

CONDITION - VERY GOOD

As each bowl is handmade and hand-painted by different craftsmen, there may be slight variations in design and size. For example, one bowl features a bird painted on the inside, while the other does not.

Some discoloration is present on the enamel chrysanthemum design, and one of the bowls has a small chip on the inside of the lid knob.

Overall, these pieces are in very good condition for being approximately 150 years old.

Vintage, antique and pre-loved items may show some signs of aging or wear. Please inspect the photos carefully before making your purchase.

Please note colours may vary slightly depending on monitor settings.

SHIPPING

Free Delivery - please refer to Shipping & Returns for further information.

Fragile items require extra wrapping for transit, which increases their weight, shipping fees, and overall pricing.

Bundle purchases may be shipped in separate parcels due to size, weight, or fragility.
