Sousaku Kokeshi by Kuribayashi Issetsu
Kokeshi titled “Sasame Yuki” meaning “Fine or Light Snow”
Sousaku “Creative” Style Kokeshi by award-winning artisan Kuribayashi Issetsu (1924-2011)
Born in 1924 in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, he began producing original Sousaku designs from around 1955
At the 1970 Japan World Exposition in Osaka, his work was exhibited at the Government Pavilion as a representative example of modern kokeshi design
He served as a judge at the National Modern Kokeshi Exhibition in 1976, and in 1979 his dolls were showcased at the Nuremberg Toy Museum in Germany
In 1996, he received the Yonezawa City Achievement Award

CONDITION - VERY GOOD
Although there is no damage to the face or body, there is a brown stain on the foot that extends to the under side of the base. The cause is unclear, but it does not detract from the beauty of the doll. Overall very good condition.
Vintage, antique and pre-loved items may show some signs of aging or wear. Please inspect the photos carefully before making your purchase.

CARING FOR YOUR KOKESHI
To dust, wipe gently with a dry soft cloth
Avoid touching kokeshi with wet hands as the dye/paint may run
Recommended to keep kokeshi away from direct sunlight to avoid wood from darkening and dye/paint fading
