Delicate Ceramic Teapot Set with Clematis Design

  • Mino ware dates back to the 7th century, originating in what was then Mino Province, now part of Gifu Prefecture

  • Known for traditional styles like Shino, Oribe, Kiseto, and Kuroseto, Mino ware has also adapted to modern lifestyles and design preferences, producing a wide variety of tableware

  • This teapot set is from Kozan Gama, a kiln owned by ceramic company Maebata Touki in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, operating since 1946

  • Decorated with purple and green clematis flowers on both sides of the teapot and on each of the tea cups

  • The Japanese name for clematis is “tetsusen,” meaning iron wire, a reference to the plant’s strong, wire-like vines

  • Symbolically, clematis represents good connections, love, and a lasting bond in marriage

  • Marked Kozan Gama on base of teapot and cups

One teacup has a tiny area missing from the thin gold stripe at the foot.

Overall very good condition.
